Error: Database locked, couldn't log report start

Hi all,

first thank you so much for all of you at NR for providing NR. It has been a really great resource for me for several years now.

Recently, though, I noticed that NR was not sending reports anymore. I uninstalled and reinstalled NR and everything seemed to be working fine again. But now the same problem is happening again: NR does not send any weekly report to myself or my accountability partners. When I try to run

sudo net-responsibility report

I get the following output:

Starting Net Responsibility
Loading options
Connecting to database
Database locked, couldn't log report start
Database is locked: INSERT INTO reports VALUES (:type, date('now', 'localtime'), time('now', 'localtime'), 0)

running

sudo net-responsibility --report --debug

also indicates that the database is locked:

Starting Net Responsibility
Loading options
Version 3.0.3
Config file: /usr/share/net-responsibility/config.xml
Txt file: /usr/share/net-responsibility/txt.xml
Connecting to database
Database file: /var/log/net-responsibility.db

Database locked, will retry to log report start
Database locked, will retry to log report start
Database locked, couldn't log report start
Database is locked: INSERT INTO reports VALUES (:type, date('now', 'localtime'), time('now', 'localtime'), 0)

Any ideas on what to do? I've looked all over the forums and can't find anyone with an equivalent problem. Thanks,

comradnoel

  • Hi comradnoel!

This might be fixed by manually clearing the database (will trigger a warning though). Try this command:

    sudo rm /var/log/net-responsibility.db

Then try sending a report again.

  • Thanks roggan87,

this did work and a report was sent! I wonder, though, what caused the problem in the first place? Is there any way to prevent it from happening in the future?

    thanks!
